Harjinder (Harry) Kang

Harjinder is the founder of Ojala Financial Corp. His drive and entrepreneurial skills have allowed Harjinder to build a financial consulting and corporate advisory firm to service small to medium sized companies with financial solutions often requiring financing in the $1 million to $50 million range. Harjinder graduated from GNDU University (Punjab, India) in 1986 with a B.A. in Political Science and Economics. After immigrating to Canada, Harjinder received the Post Diploma in International Business Management from Seneca College. Harjinder has passed and received many Canadian financial designations including the CSC, CPH, PFP, and the Canadian Futures Certification and is currently finishing course work in CIM. Harjinder’s first position in the Canadian capital markets was as an Investment Specialist for TD Asset Management. Here, Harjinder was recognized as a top performer in 1997-98. Harjinder moved to CIBC in 1998 to work as Financial Advisor. He shortly moved to business banking at CIBC in the capacity of Senior Business Advisor. He notably worked closely with a group of 120 business owners/managers to find effective solutions for their diverse financial needs. This group of clients included early stage “growers” and established mature businesses. In addition to his corporate finance work, Harjinder has, to his credit, several years of experience in real estate transactions.

 

 

W. James McMahon

Jim is a consultant specializing in mergers and acquisitions, cross-border financings and financial advisory services for owner operated businesses, public companies and government agencies. Jim graduated from the University of Toronto in 1967 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Upon graduation he joined Arthur Andersen & Co. as a member of their audit division, spending most of his time on owner operated companies and start-up projects. By 1976 Jim was Partner-in-Charge of the Small Business Division. From 1978 to 1981, he was the Managing Partner of Arthur Andersen’s Toronto office, ultimately managing 250 people. Jim left Arthur Andersen in 1985 to pursue opportunities as an investor and principal in a manufacturing company. In addition, Jim continued to serve long-standing clients in mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and related financings. Since 1991, Jim has been back in the consulting business full time. Jim was project leader for the 1994 $425 million GO Transit refinancing, the first public sector cross border financing of its type in Ontario..

 

Grant Buchan-Terrell

Grant is a corporate finance and M & A lawyer with over 25 years of deal experience. He has done numerous initial public offerings, limited partnership and co-tenancy syndications (real estate and energy), preferred share offerings, venture capital investments and divestitures, going-private transactions, sub and mezzanine financings, working capital and asset-based lending, trust deeds, factoring, convertible debentures, special warrants, reverse take-overs, share for share exchanges, statutory amalgamations and reorganizations. Grant has acted as special securities counsel on securities law matters, including registration, compliance and going-private and going public transactions (for minority shareholders) and has represented large institutional lenders, chartered banks, alternative lenders, private capital, receivers, financial intermediaries and individual investors.

Grant has carried out many leveraged management buy-outs, acquisitions and sales of owner-operated businesses and has worked with entrepreneurs on the resolution of shareholder disputes, succession planning (family and otherwise) and implementation, and new product commercialization. Grant acquired perspective by acting for banks in recovering loans from struggling and insolvent businesses. His approach is direct and result-driven, with emphasis on long-term relationship.

 

Robert Jarvis

Rob graduated in 1984 from the University of Western Ontario with a M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics. From 1984 to 1990, Rob worked for a top Toronto engineering firm specializing in complex environmental modelling. In 1990 Rob became manager of Wood Gundy Global Risk Managements Group. Here he developed models for the valuation and risk management of bank exposures from equity concentration issues to financial derivative exposures. In 1991 Rob joined RBC Dominion Securities as a debt derivative structurer. Rob became Vice President and Partner at Dominion Securities having proven himself in large complex financial transactions including developing the hedging program for CMHC when that government department started funding guaranteed mortgages through a five year debenture program. Since 2000, Rob has been involved in private equity transactions. In his most recent role, Rob was Managing Director and President of a start-up financial company involved in securitization of trade receivables.

 

Sathya Ananda

Sathya has an extensive background in international trade and commercial banking field with focus on client relations, financial and operational management. Working closely in his previous banking assignment in Kenya he assisted companies in both traditional and emerging industries with their financing needs and implemented successful strategies to multiply business borrowers and clientele. He holds a Masters Degree in Commerce and an M.B.A in finance from Jamanlal Bajaj Institute of Management in Bombay.

Sathya brings with him solid corporate operational background and a vast international trade network enhancing further scope of services provided by Ojala Financial Corp.

 

Sam Kapoor

In his several years of senior executive capacity, Mr. Sam Kapoor has worked with a diverse range of organizations. He holds the distinction of having been associated with the United Nations, New York as a Consultant to the Third World Countries. He worked with Metropolitan Life in New York and Pennsylvania as a Financial Consultant. As Chief Executive, Fedders Lloyd Ltd., Mr. Kapoor developed a unique marketing strategy and played a key role in implementing it enabling the company to become a market leader in less than 2 years. Earlier, Mr. Kapoor worked as a Regional Manager for Pressure Cookers Ltd., Divisional Manager at Usha International Ltd., and as Senior Corporate Manager, Methodex Systems Ltd. He developed and executed a number of training and development programs for management and marketing staff at various positions he has occupied with these companies. His extensive business background and skill set have seen many a small enterprise on the road to success. Mr. Kapoor holds an M.B.A. (major, marketing) from Delhi University, a L.L.B. (major, company law) from Calcutta University and a postgraduate diploma in Marketing and Advertising from Datamation Institute of Management.
